November 2017 – As in the past we are collecting unwrapped gifts for the children of Silver Springs Martin Luther School.  Enclosed is a Wish List for the children to make it easier for you to shop and there is a box in the Narthex to fill.  If you are not able to shop but would like to help please make your check payable to Grace Lutheran Church and mark it on the memo line for Silver Springs. Sunday, November 5, 2017 – There will be an Altar Guild Meeting in the meeting room downstairs immediately following the worship service.  Anyone interested in joining the Altar Guild please speak to Pat Irwin, President.

Sunday, November 5th – December 10, 2017 – We will be taking orders for Poinsettia Plants to beautify our altar for Christmas. Please fill out the order form with the color of the plants you want and how many of each.  Then fill out your dedication(s) and make your check payable to Grace Lutheran Altar Guild. You can place this in the offering place or return it to the church office. Plants are $9 each and you can order red or white.  Orders for Poinsettia Plants will be due no later than Sunday, December 10th.  Plants can be picked up after the Christmas Eve service.

Wednesday, November 8, 2017 – We will be preparing food to feed the hungry in the morning around 9:30 and then taking it to the shelter and meeting at church around 6:15p.m.

If you have any old but usable coats, sweaters, sweatshirts, etc. that you want to donate to keep these people warm during the winter months please bring them in and they will be taken to the shelter the evening of Wednesday, November 8th. 

The second Wednesday of each month we have Bible Study that begins at 11:30 a.m. in the meeting room downstairs and is be led by Pastor Leslie Richard.  Please feel free to bring a brown bag lunch.  We will be continuing with the book of Acts.  Bible Study is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about what we believe so please join us and feel free to bring a friend.

Sunday, November 19, 2017 – There will be a Council Meeting and Retreat in the meeting room downstairs immediately following the worship service from 11:30 – 2:30.

Tuesday, November 21, 2017 – Marple Newtown Community Thanksgiving Service will be at Congregation Beth El – Ner Tamid, 715 Paxon Hollow Road, Broomall, PA at 7:30p.m.

We are being asked to cook two turkeys, debone and deliver them to St. Anastasia Tuesday, November 21st between 3 & 4 pm or bring them ½ hour prior to the service that night to Congregation Beth El.  Please let Pastor know if you are able to help by cooking a turkey for the hungry for Thanksgiving.

The congregations of Marple Newtown are invited to bring collections of new hats, gloves and scarves to the community Thanksgiving Eve service on November 21st.  These will be distributed to persons in need in our community.  Your donations may be brought to the church office before that date, or bring them with you to the service that evening.

Wed., Nov. 22 – Fri., Nov. 24, 2017 – Nursery School will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday reopening on Monday, November 27th.

Wed. Nov. 22 – Wed. Nov. 29, 2017 – Pastor Richard will be on vacation.  Should you need immediate emergency pastoral care please contact the church office.

Sunday, November 26, 2017 – This is the last Sunday to bring you your unwrapped gifts for the children at Silver Springs Martin Luther School.  There is a list enclosed and in the Narthex of wanted items to purchase.  Everything must be in by the 26th of November.  If you wish to make a monetary donation please make your check payable to Grace Lutheran Church, mark on the memo line Silver Springs, then place it in the offering place or mail to the church.

Saturday, December 2, 2017 – The Altar Guild will me meeting at 10:00 a.m. to prepare the church for Advent.  Anyone interested in helping please come and join us.
