October 1 through Sunday, November 24th – We will begin collecting money and gifts for the children of Silver Springs Martin Luther School for Christmas on October 1st. There will be a box in the Narthex for the toys/gifts and the Wish List for the children including stocking stuffers is included in this newsletter for you to get started. All gifts must be in by Sunday, November 24th. Nothing can be wrapped but if you wish to donate wrapping paper and tape they also will be greatly appreciated. The children can also use their own personal toiletries such as shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, etc. all appropriate for girls and for boys. If you would like to donate money please make your check payable to Grace Lutheran Church and mark Silver Springs on the memo line.

Wednesday, October 9, 2019 – Bible Study led by Pastor Richard will be held in the meeting room downstairs. Please feel free to bring a friend. We start around 10:30 a.m.

Sunday, October 13, 2019 – All Council Members please plan to attend the October Council Meeting. The meeting will take place in the downstairs meeting room immediately following the worship service.

Sunday, October 13, 2019 – The second “Concert at Grace” program is scheduled for Sunday, October 13 at 4:00 pm.  Please plan on staying for refreshments immediately following the concert downstairs in the undercroft.  During this time you can meet the musicians.

Michael Shingo Crawford will return to play Mozart’s joyous A major Violin Sonata.

Camilla Yoder, who played oboe with the woodwind quintet in last April’s concert, will perform the French composer Camille Saint-Saens’ virtuosic oboe sonata.

Renowned cellist Steve Kramer who has studied in London, Detmold, and Copenhagen will perform Beethoven’s Twelve Variations on Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus Theme.  This tune, of course, is the basis for the favorite hymn “Thine Is the Glory.”

Ending the program will be Mozart’s Piano Trio in G, K. 564.  The dance-like, happy tune of the trio’s last movement should have everyone exiting with a smile.

Save the date for what promises to be a most enjoyable afternoon! The concert is free to the public.

Monday, October 21, 2019 – Our annual Conference Assembly will be taking place on the evening of Monday, October 21 from 6:30-8:30 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 Lynbrooke Road, Springfield, PA 19064.

Sunday, October 27, 2018 – There will be an Altar Guild Meeting immediately following the worship service in the meeting room downstairs.
